Is an USAT License required and what is it?
All participants are required to be members of USAT in order to participate. USAT provides the triathlon with insurance and race support. More information about USAT Membership can be found here.

age group
Our Age Group athletes are the amateur athletes that make up the core of our community. Anyone who does not have a pro/elite license is considered an age-grouper and they race in events according to age groups, typically separated in five-year increments. The majority of our athlete fall into these category.

clydesdale/athena
To be eligible for the Clydesdale and Athena division athletes must weigh-in at or above the minimum weights. 220 pounds for Clydesdales and 165 pounds for Athenas. TRI-OKC reserves the right to weigh athletes at either packet pick up or race morning.
Athletes racing in this category are not issued physical awards. Athletes earn points for placing top three in each race for male, female, and nonbinary athletes. The athletes with the highest cumulative points receive an award at the annual Christmas Party. |

Complete not compete
A friends and family wave is a participatory option for two or more participants to race alongside one another. Examples; swim partners, families, dad/son, mom/daughter, sisters, guardians/youth.

Everybody Can Race
Participation in Adaptive Triathlon is available to all athletes with a physical, visual, neurological, or intellectual impairment that limits one or more major life activities. Formal Paratriathlon classification into approved categories is not required for participation in the Adaptive Triathlon nor does such classification status prohibit an athlete from participating in the Adaptive Triathlon. There will be a mandatory virtual pre race meeting the week of the race to ensure TRI-OKC makes the necessary accommodations. Getting ready for race day
What kind of bikes are allowed?
Per USAT a bicycle is defined as a human powered vehicle with two wheels of equal diameter. The front wheel shall be steerable; the rear wheel shall be driven through a system consisting of pedals and a chain. You will see all types of bikes at TRI-OKC races, bikes from $100 to $10k.
Is there a time cut off?
TRI-OKC races are beginner friendly and do not have time limits, unless specifically posted. Athletes of all paces are welcome. We cheer the final athlete across the line, every time.

If you picked up your packet prior, you need to arrive with enough time to check your bike and gear into transition, pick up your timing chip, get body marked, and participate in a warm up swim (optional). Each race page has a Race Day Timeline section that will provide the time that Transition opens. This is the earliest that you can drop off your bike. You must have your bike and gear in transition prior to transition closing, that time is also posted on the page. The pre race email will also provide the timeline.
What do I need to bring?
For race day, you'll need to bring sunscreen, helmet, bike, cycling shoes (optional), sunglasses, water bottles (optional), running shoes, hat (optional), sunglasses, goggles, and race belt (optional).

The ability to wear your wetsuit will depend on the temperature of the water. The pre race email will provide details regarding the likelihood of a race being wetsuit legal. The official call will be made race morning. If you are unsure, it is better to bring your wetsuit and not need it. |

Absolutely! We love having your support system at our events. Just keep in mind, transition is an athlete only area. You will receive a pre race email 7-10 days before the race with details regarding parking at the venue and what resources will be available on site, i.e. food trucks, facilities, etc. There is also venue information on the individual race page.What resources are provided on the course?Due to the length of our race, limited nutrition is available on course. Water and Gatorade are provided at aid stations. Snacks are available pre and post race, i.e. bananas, granola bars, soda, cookies, oranges, etc.

Yes! We love to celebrate our athletes and their amazing accomplishments. The top three female, male, and nonbinary athletes in the main discipline receive a cash prize, must be present to win. The top three finishers in their USAT Age Group will receive certificates. Top three finishers in the aquabike, aquathlon, and duathlon (when not a standalone event) earn points for placing top three in each race for male, female, and nonbinary athletes. The athletes with the highest cumulative points receive an award at the annual Christmas Party.
