What is a Splash & Dash
A Splash and Dash is a fun and fast-growing sport that combines running and swimming. The run can take place on a trail, a road or a path. Similarly, the swim can take place in any body of water – a pool, a reservoir, or an ocean. Tri-OKC Youth Splash & Dash Series features a swim/run combination. Our focus is on PARTICIPATION rather than competition. The series will expose youth participants to the exciting world of multisport! Timing will not be required at each event, although it is acceptable. All events are USA Triathlon sanctioned. By participating in a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event, athletes can rest assured Tri-OKC's event meet USA Triathlon's stringent safety standards backed by the protection of their strong insurance program. All athletes that complete the course will receive a finishers medal, free meal card from Zaxby's and post-race snacks. |

The Swim
Most parents and athletes (adults too!) are nervous about the swim. That's perfectly normal. To participate, every child should be a confident, competent, and comfortable swimmer in the environment they will be racing. Some events are pool swims and some are in open water. See the event description. When swimming in a pool, athletes may take breaks by stopping on the side of the pool or holding the dividers, if necessary. they are not allowed to have any outside assistance. Buoyancy devices are not permitted in pool swims. During open water swims, athletes may use personal swim buoys (example) for safety and to rest on. They may also rest by holding onto the side of the kayak.
